Photographie Roman: «Du ‘en tant que’ au ‘parce que’»/Photography Novel: « From ‘as’ to ‘because' »
Photography Novel « From ‘as’ to ‘because' » explores identity in photography in the era of the « Anthroposcene, » highlighting the impact of humanity on its environment and its staging. Through forty years of documentary photography, I examine a constantly evolving identity, recycling my photographic memories. The notions of « as » (defining our identity) and « because » (justifying our actions) are interconnected and analyzed in the images of this photo album.
By reconstructing my memories, I study the determinisms influencing this relationship. As symbolic beings, we can transcend societal norms. The « Anthroposcene » offers a context conducive to redefining our social interactions. I advocate for a reevaluation of norms in order to adapt our practices to contemporary challenges.
Our identities are built on narratives and social contexts, which can be reinterpreted. This awareness pushes us to reflect on our place in the world. The shift from « as » to « because » questions my relationship with my nature.
Creating photographic memories raises questions about the relationship between bodily identity and the artificial intelligences that shape it. This project is a reflection on our capacity for identity, and our photographs, in the era of the « Instagrammable Anthroposcene. »
